Analysis |
|
|
The
main objective of livelihoods analysis
is to better able the DPPA and its partners,
at Woreda, Zonal, Regional and federal
levels
to respond in a timely and effective
manner to predictable and unpredictable emergencies
through
an improved emergency
needs assessment
methodology. Livelihoods
analysis gives the DPPA and its partners an
improved understanding of
the livelihoods and
coping strategies of |
populations
vulnerable to hazards and also the effects of different
types of Hazard on people’s
livelihoods and food security.
The
main Instrument of the baseline study is the Household
Economy Approach (HEA) which gives a detailed insight into
the ways people in different parts of Ethiopia manage their
income and expenditure and how they cope with shocks, including
drought, market failure and price changes. The methodology
supports the DPPA early warning system by providing a way
to better analyze information. Combining the baseline
information compiled through the HEA with existing monitoring
tools
provides an ongoing analysis of emergency needs. It helps
to answer the basic emergency response questions: where,
who, how much, how many, what, when and how long.
The
livelihood profile made for SNNP with
other regions flowing suit has portraits
of household economies, in
depth livelihood zone assessment, livelihood
woreda reports and regional
overview. Somali
region detail livelihood
zone assessment, livestock
aerial survey and regional state summery. Tigray region detail livelihood zone and worda profiles.
